FAQ
Can this tell me if my specific house lost power?
No. The underlying dataset (ORNL EAGLE-I) is utility-reported, county-level estimated customers-out — it can confirm a detectable, county-scale outage on a given date, not whether any one specific address lost power.
Why does it say "data quality insufficient" for some counties?
A small number of counties have too little utility-reporting coverage, too few recorded events, or customer-count figures that don't reconcile with any reliable population source — for those, we show that limitation instead of a false confident answer.
Why are the times shown not adjusted for my time zone?
The source data's timestamps carry no time zone offset, and we don't maintain a county-to-time-zone mapping. Times are shown exactly as recorded so this limitation is visible rather than hidden — see our methodology page for detail.
How far back does this go?
2014 through 2025, the full span of the ORNL EAGLE-I dataset.
